A Theme Verse

Last year, sometime in the middle of July, I came across the idea of a motto verse for the year.

While it has been several months since January, I have finally found the verse that seems to embody (in words) what I would like to be.

1 Peter 1:13

13Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.

To prepare your mind for action is the same as to prepare yourself for battle or any other action: to equip yourself and be ready for that action.

The best way I've been able to figure that out is to memorize scripture and pray continually: both commands and both very beneficial. Both are things I ought to work on.

Be self-controlled. That's a hard one for me. It is not easy for anyone to be self-controlled, but I seem to have particular trouble with this. But that sounds like a command to me, and I am going to work on that this year.

Lastly, set your hope fully on the grace to be given you. That isn't always as easy as it sounds. But it is something to look forward to, and we must remember to always hope, no matter the situation.

Well, that's my verse/motto for this year.
Does anyone else have something similar?
