BLOOM pt. 2

*Last week I talked about something the Lord has been reminding me of.*
Now, I continue:

"And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?'
Then I said, 'Here am I! Send me.'"
Isaiah 6:8

This verse should be our battle cry. As we grow closer to the Lord we are constantly striving after His will for our lives.

Yet, how often do we struggle against that will.

We choose to fill our minds with unprofitable things from books and movies and music to conversations and ponderings that lead us away from faithfulness. Rather than taking all areas of our lives and making them obedient to Christ, we make ourselves obedient to all areas of our life.

Why?

Simply put, we fail to engage in the discipline of being a disciple of our Lord. We fail to seek Him with such earnestness that would lead us to say "Here I am! Send me!"

Where will He send us?

In some cases it may be to Africa or Mexico or Italy or New York.

But, I believe in many cases it's to our living room or laundry room or the grocery store or the library or the nursing home. God has saved us and commissioned us that we might take His Name throughout the world.

The world consists of far-away places. But, it also consists of very near places.

It is my prayer that I would bloom right where I'm planted and trust that the Lord will spread the seeds of this plant wherever He sees fit.

Someday, I may be called to some far-away place.

For right now, I'm called to be a minister of the Gospel as a single young woman living in her father's home in the middle of what often seems like a dead desert.

I long for many things, but I must learn to long for only one thing, namely, the Lord's will.

I challenge you to do the same.

Feed your faith that it might grow and I think you'll find your contentment (trust) and effectiveness (obedience) will grow with it.

  1. I love the blog, Victoria and the rest of the "team"! (-: Victoria, this post especially struck me. Your insight about making ourselves obedient to all areas of our life rather than making the areas obedient to Christ is convicting! Also, I loved how you said that God can send us to the living room or laundry room! Or to the kitchen to wash dishes and clean out the compost bin, for that matter! (-:
This whole post reminds me of the hymn, "Lord Send me Anywhere" in part written by David Livingstone. Have you ever sung that one? It's an amazing, soul-searcher of a hymn!

  2. Thanks for the comment, Lauren! Your words encourage and challenge me to continue seeking God!!! :)

That hymn does not sound familiar, but I'm going to go look it up right now.
