America's Heroes

I decided that since Memorial Day is coming up, I would break with my series for a week and honor some of the patriotic heroes' in my life and our history. I also wish more importantly to remind us of our country's beginnings that were guided by the Lord. I would really like this to be a interactive post. Please feel free to write about a hero you know or a story of the Lord's providence in our country.

I would first like to begin by simply mentioning some of the Founding Fathers that followed after God. I would really like to encourage you to further research these Founding Fathers. Here is the list. These are just a few of the most well known Founding Fathers that served the Lord. Samuel Adams, John Witherspoon, John Adams, George Washington, Alexander Hamilton, Benjamin Rush, John Quincy Adams, and Patrick Henry. As I stated above, these are just a few. I would encourage to look it up for yourself. (I will warn you though, there are a lot of false things out there when you look up Christian Founding Fathers. People are really trying to take the Lord our of our history.)

Next, I would like to just say a word about my patriotic family heroes. In my family I have 1 great-great uncle, who has already gone on to Heaven, and 3 great- uncles that served in World War 2; 6 great- uncles and 1 grandpa that served in Vietnam; my father served during the Cold War; and multiple friend and relatives that are currently serving in the military.

I can not thank these relatives enough for all their sacrifices. Without the sacrifices of Americans like my relatives, I might not have freedom to attend church on Sunday or hand a track to the clerk in the store. Without these brave soldiers, it would be completely possible that we could be arrested for telling others about the Lord.

We need to remember our relatives, our Founding Fathers, and most importantly our Lord. We must not forget our Christian heritage. Let this Memorial Day be a time of revival in our hearts as we think of all those brave and courageous soldiers of both our country's military and our Heavenly Father's army. Let us not forget that to retain our freedom, we must continue to use it.

Let us follow our Christian heritage and tell the world about Christ, starting right at home. Let's use this Memorial Day to honor our brave veterans and patriots in the best possible way...... by telling some one about the Lord.
