Dangerously Pleasant

Over the past five years or so, I have finally started to understand the high calling of being a godly wife and potentially mother.

But that is not all.

Being godly does not happen over night. It is a struggle. Yet, it is the very thing that God is working in those of us who are His people.

Marriage is a covenant in which a man and woman come together before God and agree to continue on this journey together.

Marriage is a covenant between two sinners in constant need of God's work in their lives.
As God works, war is made against sin and the natural tendency of both the man and the woman to give into themselves.

Marriage is dangerous.

But, marriage is also pleasant.

The man and woman, now husband and wife, get to enjoy a very intimate relationship in which they truly become one. They share their lives, their home, children if the Lord blesses them with them, and most importantly, a mission.

The mission of every marriage should be to make God look great.
That is, to submit to God so that the marriage is aimed at being a perfect picture of Christ and His people.

May this generation, and all those that follow, seek to prepare themselves to join together as men and women dedicated to God and the dangerously pleasant business of marriage.
