"my soul waits for the LORD..."

"I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
and in his word I hope;
my soul waits for the Lord

more than watchmen for the morning,
more than watchmen for the morning."

Psalm 130: 5-6

It seems that life is full of waiting, wanting, and watching for something to happen. Right now everyone in my family is waiting for something. My eldest brother is waiting for his wedding in May. My second brother is waiting and watching for something to happen in his Chemistry research.
Closer to home, my parents, my sister, and I are waiting on an answer from the Lord. We are waiting for a clear answer of guidance from Him about where we'll go next in life.
This Christmas season made me aware
of the waiting and watching for the Messiah to come...not only for the second time, but for the first so many years ago. My mother kept on remarking on how sad it was that Anna and Simeon were the only people in the Bible that were waiting and watching for the Savior.
Now I realize how concerned I've been about other things—moving, school, chores—when I haven't given a moment’s notice to watching for the greatest event of all time.
How awful to be like the five virgins who slept in the delay of the bridegroom!
Instead, I pray that I will be recorded with those who are daily watching, waiting, praying, and preparing for the Lord's return.

Is your soul waiting for the LORD?
