Of Waiting and Working

Last week I talked about waiting and working.

I do not want to sound like I have it all together. Let me tell you, I do not. This whole waiting and working thing is a battle I fight daily. I long to be better at waiting. Time spent waiting in a long line could be spent praying for people or talking with people around me. Days spent wondering where I'll be next year could be spent laboring for the Gospel today in the lives of those that intersect with mine right now.

The key to working while waiting is simply abiding in Christ. Why do I say "simply"? Because it IS simple. Yet, it is impossible for us on our own. We not only will not abide in Christ on our own, we do not even want to. If you want to, it is a sign of God at work in your life. So, press into Him. Remain faithful and trust that God is faithful. As time goes by, watch the ways that God shapes you and make the most of every opportunity to bring God's will to earth as it is in heaven.

Every act of obedience to God is bringing heaven, that is the eternal presence of God, to earth. Rest in that. Trust in that. Hope in that. Love that. With every act of obedience, you are abiding in Christ.
