"He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still."
Psalms 107:29
"And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm."
Mark 4: 39
It is Wednesday night. I am sitting in my living room listening to thunder roaring. Tonight we are having extremely bad thunderstorms. My daddy and I had to drive home from church in these storms. I must admit I was quite nervous.
My father is an excellent driver, and I have been in many storms that were actually worse, but I was still nervous. It was very dark, and the water was rising high, since we have lots of narrow streams. We finally made it home after going through several really rough spots.
It has still been somewhat touch and go as we have waited to see if warnings will be issued or not. As I waited and prayed, I began to think about the storms of life. Sometimes they are in our eyes rather "touch and go" also. This really is not the case though.
As we see in the above verses, the Lord is completely in control of physical storms as well as storms of life. The Lord will calm the worst "sea" that floods our life. When we are caught in a storm, all we need to do is call on the Lord. He will rebuke the wind and calm the waves.
We can safely travel through the "storms" of life when the Lord is our guide.
